A phone ban, I hope you dont include 999 because thats dumb.
They should be made to sit in a room at a police station and forced to listen to recorded calls of people needing :
ambulances for babies who have stopped breathing
fire brigade for people trapped in a burning building
police for people who have been mugged and beaten
and coastguards needed because a couple of kids are floating miles off land in treacherous seas.
Then they may see why them lines need to be left for such real cases.
AAARRRRGGHHH! I feel so sorry for these poor operators not being able to say what they like to these morons and just hanging up. Maybe if people knew they’d get an earful of attitude down the line if they were stupid enough to ring for mundane things they wouldn’t do it!
They should have a new law stating that any misuse of 999 should have to face a temporary phone ban.
If it happens a second time, it should become permanent.
as a bus driver i was once running late due to an accident earlier on the route, when i arrived in hamilton there was one idiot goin off his nut (he was told to piss off) but one other passenger told me that he had flagged down a passing fire engine to report that i hadnt arrived yet!
Thank you for your comments. We ran a similar campaign back in 2003 and we saw a significant drop in misuse of the 999 line. Once the publication of these calls have served their purpose they will be removed.
hate to break it to you… but that’s not gonna work. Some of these videos are actually funny and Funny + Prank + Dumb = Instant Viral! This will indeed only encourage this kind of thing. I would encourage the head of your web team to consider ceasing this effort. If this channel ever gets featured, it’ll be all over
i think what the police are doing here is excellent, if only the people calling knew what idiots they are being…. some people should remember its not all about number 1. top respect to ASPolice and i hope these videos do what there intended….
lol I know ah? What a moron
Except to 999. They might have a genuine emergency. I also think the idea would be difficult to enforce. But, I like your idea.

hey do you want my number so next time you get a call like this you can put them through to me for some abuse like the idiots deserve
Why do they keep them on the line so long!!
not a bad idea

The police web team.
Perhaps if the police sent a few more buses down Crow Lane then calls like this wouldn’t happen.

buncha idiots think their sore feet r more important than peoples lives. selfish pigs should b thrown n jail. (some subtitles would b nice also)

I thought these would just encourage people to make prank calls to 999 to upload to the internet.
I’m very angry when my feet are sore too. I’m gonna call 911 to tell them there is no buses in Wyoming =P
The way he spoke was disgusting, thinks his sore feet are more important than other peoples lives…
I’ve never had to call 999, and I hope I never have to. But I must say, you all do the best you can, and I appreciate it.
It’s sad that people misuse the service like this, but even worse that some people deliberately misuse it, as we all know it can cost lives.
Thanks again.
Hello. Thank you for your feedback. The videos were made by a member of the web team to highlight the misuse of the 999 line.
These Videos are Funny but Good at the Same Time, Does ASP employ a person to make these videos as their job?
